FAQ’S

Even if you have had previous tinting or lash extensions elsewhere it is required for safety and insurance purposes that we here at JK Beauty patch test you. This needs to be performed at least 24 hours before the tinting/extension treatment is required. You don’t need an appointment just pop into the salon and one of our friendly receptionists will help you. Without a patch test we will not perform your treatment.

If you are having waxing for the first time it is very important that you have enough hair growth. Ideally a good 1cm as a minimum. This is so the wax can grip hold of the hair. If your hair has been shaved, you will need a bit more length, as stubbly hair can be coarser and tougher to remove – leave it at least two weeks, preferably three, before your wax.

It’s also important not to have hair that’s too long. Anything over an inch is not recommended, as it’s harder for the wax to reach the skin where it needs to work. If it’s been a while since your last hair removal, have a trim at home before your appointment.

After you have been waxed you should avoid hot showers / baths and any heat or steam treatments, Do not touch the area, Avoid swimming for 24 hours, Avoid make up if you have had face waxing.

It is really important to let us know if you are pregnant (in strictest confidence) as there are some treatments or products that may not be suitable or need to be adapted.

You can still have a facial however we ask you wait at least a week after having the botox/fillers.

For CACI areas being treated with Botox® it is advised you wait 3 months or dermal fillers advised you wait 2 weeks.

Lycon is a hot wax formulated with the finest natural and synthetic resins, beeswax and sensuous aromatherapy, lycon delivers superior results, removing stubborn hair as short as 1mm like no other. For intimate waxing such as the Brazilian and Hollywood we use Lycon. We apply a pre-wax oil before, creating a barrier between your skin and wax. The wax will shrink-wrap around your hair meaning removal is efficient and comfortable.

If you’re under a Dermatologist treatment for Acne or other skin conditions, you may have been prescribed Roaccutane or Tretinoin. Both these preparations, either as creams or tablets, mean it is an absolute NO for waxing. You must tell us if you are taking either of these products as we may be able to recommend an alternative hair removal method.

You need to wait 6 months after your course of Roaccutane/Tretinoin has finished, before you start waxing.

Call us for a chat if you are in doubt, we’re always happy to help.
